We've worked with our friends at Waihī Bicycle Hire and the Waihī Gold Discovery Centre to organise all you need to have an incredible experience at both destinations. And after you've seen the best of our region, head back to the Retreat to relax and unwind with friends. Early check-in is also offered, as is an exquisite platter and wine on arrival, a fully stocked kitchen and home-made breakfast supplies.
When you book Orokawa Bay Retreat you have exclusive use of the entire property. Sleeping up to 8 guests in 4 private rooms (each with ensuite) with either Super King beds or twin King Singles, it is the perfect space for a group of adventurers.
The spacious lounge and dining area offers a place for your party to relax together, and with the fully equipped kitchen you can organise your own menu or we can arrange a chef to prepare a special meal or spread.
On your riding experience, you have the choice of standard or electric bikes and you will have a full day to cover off as much of the Hauraki Rail Trail as you wish! There is also the opportunity to be dropped at a certain starting spot and ride to a final location on the trail - be sure to enquire about the different options available.
Your Waihī Gold Tour will take you on the ultimate journey of discovery, uncovering Waihi’s quest for gold that has spanned three centuries. You'll first visit the award-winning Waihī Gold Discovery Centre. This hands-on experience provides visitors of all ages with unique opportunities to dig into the lives of the early miners and their families. Then you'll head over to the mine site and and go inside the security fence to experience modern-day gold mining up close.
Additionally, ask your hosts about massage and beauty services or hiking transport too. We're here to make your weekend unforgettable!

Wonderfully relaxing, peaceful setting, fabulous place to restore. Loved the hot tub and bird song, and the spectacular sunrise!
